Social Networks

Social networks like Twitter, Plurk, etc. are very popular. This popularity is a big part of their problem. Them seem to have a lot of trouble keeping their networks up and working correctly.

Wind Farm in Kansas

While driving back to Colorado through Kansas we came across this wind farm. A great way to utilize natural resources to make electricity. The wind is always blowing in Kansas.

School Transportation Summer Workshop

I got back yesterday evening from the Summer Workshops in Pueblo, CO. I really enjoyed it, even though we spent 2 of the 3 days outside in 100° weather. The best thing about the workshops is the networking with other school bus driver/trainers. I look forward to next year.

Hamfest

I went to the Pike's Peak Amateur Radio Club Hamfest this morning in Monument, Colorado just north of Colorado Springs. I rode my motorcycle, enjoyed the trip and saved money on gas. The hamfest was disappointing. When I lived in Alabama we would go to the Huntsville Hamfest each year in August. It was held in the civic center and was so large it would take two to three hours to see it all. This one was held in a high school gym and you could walk through it in about 10 minutes.

Plurk

Plurk is a website competing with Twitter. Plurking is cool! Check it out. http://plurk.com/redeemByURL?from_uid=35450&check=-1275165532&s=1

Social Websites

It's interesting how popular the websites like, Facebook, Twitter, Plurk, etc. have become. I especially like Twitter (despite it's problems) and Plurk. I'm still figuring out Plurk but I like it. Friendfeed is also interesting because it allows you to pull all these sites together.

Linux

I love to use other operating system than Windows. One of my favorites is Linux. There are a lot of different distributions of Linux and each one is a little different. I like to download different distributions to try them out. One of the most popular is Ubuntu and for good reason it just works. It's easy to install, easy to update and installing programs is a snap. OpenSuse is another good one, it seems to get better with each new version. I also like Mandriva.
